Teemo
Last updated: April 10, 2026
Teemo is TeamOhana's AI Workforce Analyst — a conversational AI agent that lets you explore your workforce and hiring data using natural language. Instead of building reports or navigating dashboards, you can ask Teemo questions directly and refine your analysis through conversation. Behind the scenes, Teemo interprets your question and transforms it into a query against your live TeamOhana data to return a result.
Think of Teemo as a knowledgeable analyst who understands your headcount data — one who can answer questions quickly, but who benefits from clear guidance on the parameters and filters you want applied. Teemo is available to users with Teemo access enabled by your TeamOhana Admin.
Note: Teemo access is controlled at the organization level. If you do not see Teemo in your TeamOhana navigation, contact your Admin to request access.
What Teemo Can Help You With
Teemo is especially useful for:
Understanding current and planned headcount, including approved versus filled roles
Tracking hiring progress, open roles, and roles that are past due or at risk
Exploring org structure and workforce composition across teams, departments, roles, and locations
Comparing planned versus actual hiring and costs, and understanding the impact of hiring delays
Analyzing attrition, turnover, and workforce trends over time
Surfacing compensation data and plan-to-actual variance (where data is available and you have the appropriate permissions)
What Data Teemo Can Access
Teemo answers questions based on the workforce and hiring data in your account. The data it can access depends on what is configured in your organization, how fields are set up, and your individual permissions.
Employee & Workforce Data
Job details: title, level, role, team
Org structure: division, department, manager, location
Employment details: employee type, status, start and end dates
Compensation data: base, variable, bonus, equity, currency
Workforce impact metrics: FY impact, annualized impact, total compensation
Headcount & Hiring Plan Data
Role details: job title, level, location, priority
Hiring status and health: open, hired, past due, at risk, closed
Backfills versus net new roles
Budgeted, target, offer, and actual compensation
Hiring timelines and approval dates
Variance and forecast metrics: FY variance, cost deltas, timing variance
Note: Custom fields and Budget Envelope-related data are not accessible by Teemo by default. Contact your TeamOhana account manager to enable these data sources for your account.
What Teemo Cannot Access
Data that is not configured or populated in your instance
Information you do not have permission to view — for example, compensation data if you do not have compensation visibility, or department data for departments outside your access
How to Get the Best Results
Start broad, then narrow
Teemo works best as a conversation. Start with a simple question, then refine it with follow-ups rather than trying to build the perfect prompt upfront.
Good starting questions:
"How many open roles do we have by department?"
"What's our hiring progress this quarter?"
"Show me headcount by location."
Then refine:
"Break that down by team."
"Show this as percentages."
"Summarize the key insights."
Specify attributes and values precisely
An attribute is a category — such as Department, Division, Employee Type, or Headcount Type. A value is a specific option within that attribute — such as "Engineering" within Department. When filtering on a specific value, always name the attribute it belongs to. This prevents Teemo from applying fuzzy matching across unrelated fields.
More effective | Less effective |
"Show me all Contractors (employee type)" | "Show me all Contractors" |
"What is average time to hire by Reporting Manager?" | "What is average time to hire by manager?" |
"Show me all open headcount in the Engineering department" | "Show me all open headcount in Engineering" |
"How many employees have the job title Account Executive?" | "How many sales reps do we have?" (if "sales rep" is not a term in your job catalog) |
Tip: If you're unsure how a value is named in TeamOhana — for example, whether a department is called "G&A" or "General & Administrative" — ask Teemo for the full list first: "Show me a breakdown by department." The list in the result will show you the exact names to use in follow-up questions.
Treat Teemo like a new team member
Early on, clear and straightforward questions produce the best results. As you use Teemo more, you'll learn how to guide it effectively. Providing feedback — using the thumbs-up and thumbs-down reactions on responses — helps Teemo improve over time and helps the TeamOhana team identify where the model needs refinement.
Understanding Teemo's Output
Teemo is probabilistic, not deterministic. It returns a result based on the most likely interpretation of your question using natural language processing, rather than hard-coded logic. This means:
Results may appear as tables, charts, or text summaries depending on the question
Phrasing and presentation may vary for similar questions, though the underlying data is consistent — it is always your real data surfaced by an AI-generated query
For exploration and fast insight, this flexibility is a strength; for highly structured, repeatable reporting, TeamOhana's traditional report views remain the most reliable tool
If a result is not quite what you expected, ask a follow-up to narrow it: "Filter this to only full-time employees" or "Show only Q1 start dates."
Tip: Teemo will never hallucinate data that does not exist in your account. If a field is empty or not configured, Teemo will surface that gap rather than invent a result.
Example Questions by Role
Role | Example questions |
HR / People Ops | "What is average attrition by department?" "Show voluntary vs. involuntary turnover for the last 12 months." "What is our total headcount by employee type?" |
Finance | "Show total budgeted compensation by department for this fiscal year." "What is our plan-to-actual variance by division?" "Which departments are over budget on headcount?" |
Recruiting Leader | "What is our forecast employee count by location at year end?" "Which open roles are past their target start date?" "Show hiring progress this quarter by department." |
Hiring Manager | "What are my open reqs and the status of each?" "Am I on track to hit my hiring plan this quarter?" "If I convert two contractors to full-time, what happens to my budget?" |
Division / Department Leader | "Count of reporting managers vs. non-managers by division." "Which teams in my org are behind on hiring and why?" "Show me my total contractor spend versus plan." |
How Teemo Improves Over Time
Teemo gets better with use. Real questions from your team help refine how it interprets requests. Feedback submitted through thumbs-down reactions — along with any comments you add — is reviewed by TeamOhana's engineering team and used to improve the model's accuracy and guidance.
Use the heart (thumbs up) reaction on responses that worked well, and thumbs down with a brief comment on responses that missed the mark. This is the most direct way to improve Teemo for your organization.
