Requests and Approvals
Last updated: September 10, 2026
The Requests and Approvals pages provide a centralized place to manage all headcount activity—whether you're tracking requests, reviewing approvals, or taking action on employee changes.
These pages are accessible from the left navigation and replace the task-based widgets previously found on the home page.

Overview: Requests vs Approvals
Although both pages surface headcount activity, they serve different purposes:
Page | Purpose | Scope |
Requests | Track and manage all headcount activity | All statuses (Draft, In Approval, Approved, Archived, Denied, Change Requests) |
Approvals | Review and take action on pending approvals | Only headcount currently In Approval |
Key takeaway:
Use Requests for visibility and tracking
Use Approvals for action and decision-making

Filtering and Bulk Actions
The Approvals page supports the same capabilities as Requests:
Department filtering

Approval Workflow
When a request is submitted, it enters a predefined approval chain (e.g., Hiring Manager → Finance → Leadership).
Each approver can:
Approve → Moves to the next step or final approval
Deny → Permanently rejects the request
Request Changes → Sends back for updates and resubmission
⚠ Important: A denied request cannot be directly reopened in place.
However, it can be archived and later unarchived, which returns it to Draft status and allows it to be submitted again for approval.
Archived Headcount
Available under Requests → Headcount tab
Use the status filter to view archived items
Archiving removes a position from the active plan but does not delete it
Admins can restore archived headcount
Permissions and Access
Visibility is controlled by role and Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC):
Admins → Full organizational visibility
Finance → Access to all approvals (budget oversight)
HRBPs → Department-level visibility
Hiring Managers → Limited to their scope
Additional notes:
“Approve as Admin” is only available to authorized roles
Users only see headcount within their assigned scope
