Why Job Role and Compensation May Reset
In TeamOhana, Job Roles and Compensation are tied to specific Division-Department combinations.
When a headcount moves to a different department:
The previous job role association may no longer apply
The system will ask you to select the correct job role for the new department
Compensation will then update based on the selected job role
This ensures your compensation and reporting remain accurate.
What to Expect When Moving Headcount
When you move a headcount to a new department:
You’ll be prompted to select the appropriate job role
Compensation fields may appear blank until the job role is selected
No approval request is triggered - the update happens immediately (based on your permissions)
This is expected system behavior.
Best Practice: Upload Your Job Catalog First
To make the process easier, we recommend this order:
Step 1: Upload your updated Job Catalog
Step 2: Move headcounts to their new departments
Step 3: Select the appropriate job role when prompted
This helps ensure compensation and job role options are available immediately.
If You Don’t Upload the Job Catalog First
If headcounts are moved before the job catalog is updated:
Job roles will need to be re-selected later
Compensation will need to be restored after job roles are assigned
Your data is not lost - it just needs to be reassigned based on the new structure.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will moving a headcount trigger approvals?
No. Moving headcount between departments does not trigger approval requests.
Will compensation automatically stay the same?
Compensation will populate after you select the correct job role in the new department.
Will we lose any historical data?
No. Historical data and records remain intact.
Why do I need to select the job role again if it’s the same role?
Even if the role name is the same, the system treats it as a new association because it belongs to a different department.
This ensures accurate reporting and compensation mapping.
